I live in Houston, TX and split time cruising/skiing and fishing both bay and near shore. I have heard good things about both the Seacraft 21 and Contender 21 and am wondering if anyone has some experience with either or both of these hulls, positive or negative. Thanks!!

The net is that they are both great boats. You cannot go wrong with either one. Top end construction!

That is what I have heard. I know that everyone has their favorites for certain reasons, kind of like pickup trucks Chevy/Ford/Dodge. I have gotten an earful from a friend that swears that the Seacraft is the best riding boat on that water and will never own anything but.... Just trying to hear a few more voices on the matter before jumping in.... Thanks!! Brian

Everyone has their favorite boat. I spent quite a bit of time on a Contender 21. Good boat, until you add 3 passangers and run it in a 5+ chop. BIG difference and not ideal for the majority of time I spend on the water. Furthermore, taking into consideration that quite a few Contender owners (not all) I met have a "your boat sucks" approach, I chose to get past all the hype and look hard at other boats before making a purchase. Alot of great boats out there and alot of crap. After checking out just about everything in south and central Florida, I decided on and recently purchased a 23 SC. I think it was a great move and would not trade it for anything else I researched. Amazing performance off shore (for a 23, not a 55' Hatteras), great inshore as well (for a 23, not a 16' Redfisher). Durable and nice lines. For the money you might spend on a 21 Contender, look at the 23 Seacraft. May be a better move for you. E-mail me directly for details as to my experience with both.

Please look at my website www.hiddentreasure.traxsion.com, I think the site will sum up how we feel about the SeaCraft. We owned a 20' SeaCraft for 15 years and now have a 32'. We can have any boat out there but choose the SeaCraft to fish with our children on because it's that's safe. Look at an old Contender and an old SeaCraft there's no comparison who built a better boat. As for ride, it's not the fastest but will take any sea you throw at it.
