I recently moved to Southern California from Florida. I have heard the tuna fishery out here can be a lot of fun. Can anyone reccommend some private boats for charter? I would prefer someone with some fly fishing experience. Thanks for your help.

I recently moved to Southern California as well, and I can't find any charter boats for less than $2000.00 per day.

Dear sir,

One year ago we started our own website www.biggame-fishing.com
We would like to bring fisherman together by placing lots of fishing stories from all over the world. So the site is a non profit organazation and just for the fun of fishing! If you want you can send us a nice fishing story together with some nice pictures and we will place it on our site for free!
We will also mention information about your site and charterboots.

If you don't want to use this opportunity perhaps you know somebody else who does?

Hope to hear from you soon,

Leon Pennings,

I did the opposite, I left Cali for Florida. San Diego has the best fleet. For a couple of grand you can get a multi day trip and thats really the way to go. None of the private charters have the range or boats big enough. I fished the southern coast and down into baja for 25 years and there is no tuna fishing in Florida that can compare. Have fun and tight lines.

Thanks for the tip. During the summer do the tuna come far enough north to go after with local private boats. Enjoy Florida. If you get the chance don't forget to hit Homasassa for Tarpon and West Palm and Ft Lauderdale for Billfish

Check out this website, they run a first class operation and are one of the only charter boats that specialize in offshore saltwater fly fishing.

Check on some of the local sites. http://www.allcoastsportfishing.com/index.html or http://www.sandiegofishing.com. The guys on these boards will steer you in the right direction. You may also find guys who are looking for buddies to help with the expenses.

I love the long range boats down in the San Diego area. They are the best that can be found in the world. If you have the time then I would go on a multi-day trip. Tight lines

do a search and check out Pacific Tuna Ventures. You just might be able to secure a berth as a substitute. If you do,try the rack and catch 80-100 3 pole fish. That,my friend,is fun. There is nothing like standing in tuna thigh high and hoping they get chest high before the bite shuts down.
