The only thing i can think of is the shaft being the inccorect lenght. is this engine new? Make sure that ur boats transom hasnt been changed in anyway, and if it has and u dont know that may be ur problem.Good luck

Hi, I am from Australia and experienced the same problem a few years back on a evinrude 110hp outboard. Many areas of concern were tackled be it from carby's to propellors & transom mount. Vaccuum on your fuel tank (as fuel is being consumed, a vaccuum forms if air is not replacing volume in fuel tank)is also a possibility if your breathers aren't performing their purpose. My underlying problem was solved by an elderly gentleman whom mentioned to me about checking my fuel lines. I mentioned that I have checked them, there weren't any leaks, fuel bulb was ok and in correct direction, no kinks etc. then he asked what about the inside of the fuel line, how old was the fuel line? He noticed I was a bit puzzled as I had already told him that they "looked" fine. He then explained that fuel lines sometimes due to their age, quality, etc. can "go soft" or "swell up" on the inside, thus creating a smaller inside diameter for the fuel to pass through, restricting it to the point where insufficient fuel flow may effect the outboards performance. Guess what? He was right. A new fuel line worth less than $20.00 fixed it. I then disected the old line and found the "swelling" in three areas, one had reduced the inside diameter from 5/16" to more like 1/32". If you get stuck ask an old salt, after all, they've been there, done that. Good luck.
