I just bought a home on the gulf in new port richey in the deep water canals of Gulf Harbors. I have taken out my first real boat being a 14' boston whaler dauntless with a 70 Yam with only 75 hrs but the seas kicked up and my wife was scared to go out. I want to get some real fish offshore and went to the Tampa Boat Show yesterday and today and visited some dealers. I can't afford a new good size Whaler or Grady so I am comparing Sailfish models 218wa which has a nice cabin for the size and the Sailfish 234wac. I also liked the overall quality of the Seaswirl Striper 2301 Walkaround but found the cabin a bit smaller. I am from Boston and don't know boats very well but used to love fishing and look forward to going out to some nearby islands for the night and pulling in some grouper or maybe even get into sport fishing as I am semi-retired at 51 now. I am selling my Harley and Campmaster and have enough to purchase any of these models cash but am also looking at resale if I want to get bigger. Of course buying a new boat is not like the investment in the property as boats probably depreciate 20% the first year. I like the creature comforts of the new models and especially the Yamaha 4 strokes that are available on these. I think the 225's might be the best option here for any of these but I ask you opinion based on your experience and expertise if you will. You are free to publicize the query and hope to hear from you soon.
