Billfishing around Los Roques, Venezuela

We are four Swedish guys that are going to Venezuela to combine bonefishing and billfishing. Our plan is to charter a boat (in November) and (bill)fish our way out to Los Roques. Anyone have an opinion on billfishing around the Los Roques Archipelago? We thought it would be nice to flyfish for bonefish one day and then go for marlin the next. Everyone is talking about the el Placer Bank as the place to fish, so would it be better to stay in the mainland and fish el placer for a couple of days and then go to Los Roques and concentrate on bonefish?
Anyone know anything about the billfishing around Los Roques?

I think there are no quality billfishing charters in Los Roques . Everything there is geared to diving and bonefishing. The latter is excellent by the way. For billfishing you will need to charter from the mainland and you can find the information you want on the destination pages of this forum under the heading Reports from Venezuela . There are a lot of contributions !

Phil, thanks for replying, I will rephrase the question; I already have a boat chartered on the mainland that can take us to Los Roques, and I was wondering about the possibilities to catch billfish in the Los roques area. It would be nice to be able to choose between bonefishing and billfishing every day...My option is to fish El placer bank for some days and then go to Los Roques for bonefish.

Sorry I cannot be of any assistance , I have neither seen nor heard any information relating to billfishing around LR . I imagine the boats fish the mainland marks because thats where the topography and bite is best .
If you will be staying on Los Roques and not on your boat then book your hotel-posada ahead of time , there is more demand than supply.

I've personally only ever fished for Bonefish off Los Roques. It might well be better posting your enquiry to the very active Caribbean forum of www.reel-time.com.
