Planning a trip in June. Would Northern or Central Pacific be better this time of year for sailfish? Marlin would be great. Any recommendations on charters, lodgings, or all inclusive packages. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I highly recommend using Felipe at gooddayteam.com He has three boats. I think June is around the time they move boats north to Flamingo. He can help you with all parts of the trip! Have fun!

b) Los Suenos
c) Flamingo
d) Quepos

I wouldn't bother with Costa Rica - I'd go with Guatemala instead. Ever hear of releasing 30-40 sails in a single day? Well, that's nearly every day in Guatemala. Sure there's the ocassional day of only ten, then there's other days when the boat releases 124 for 188 bites!

Quepos fleet hasn't seen 188 sailfish in one day, let alone one month!

ghost, lets clear the record with facts.costa rica is much more tourist friendly, ie tourist abductions. we do regularly raise twenty to thirty sails per boat per day. but if you ned to land 50 sails to feel good then dont come here, we prefere smaller egos

if you fish a ten hour day you would need to release a sailfish every 5 minutes for the entire ten hours... hmmm?

124 sails in ten hours is a HUGE accomplishment. Give credit to the Captain and his two mates that managed to clear four lines every five minutes. Those aren't the little 45 pounders you find in Fla, these fish are 70-98 pounds.

My best day fishing alone was 45.

I happen to be there the 4 days prior to this feat. We (2 anlers 1st. day, 3 of us for the last three days)released 240 sails in the 4 days. the last 2 days we wen 70 and 80 respectively.

We left on a Friday, the following day the Captain Hook broke the Guatemalan record (which captain Ronnie happen to own)with 124.

Even more incredible was the flyfishing
record, one boat released an amazing 51 only to be bested by another at 57.

To say the bite was incredible is an understatement.
