I am planning a trip to either Costa Rica, Panama, or Guatemala. I have fished in Golfito and Coiba Isand area of Panama and am considering something different. I would appreciate any recommendations or experiences that other have had in the region. Thanks!

Let's see, there is deep sea fishing in Los Suenos near Jaco on the pacific coast. To charter a fishing boat there goes anywhere from $700 and up, ... far up. We chartered a nice boat for $1300 a day. There is very decent fishing on Rio San Juan on the Costa Rican - Nicaraguan boarder for about $700 as well. The catch with that place is that it has extreme poverty. There are nice places to stay along the river though. Lake Arenal in San Carlos also offers very good fishing providing you have a good guide who knows the area very well. I forgot what I paid there, but I could find out pretty easily. The Caribbean is also pretty good, but many people are worried about the high violent crime rate. If the Caribbean is your destination, just stay away from Limon and you'll be just fine. If you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate.
