I have two questions regarding fishing in Costa Rica in mid-May:

1) What is the best region/town for some good action on sails, marlin, dorado or tuna in mid-May? I don't necessarily need to catch a billfish, I am most interested in some good overall action.

2) Is there any reasonably priced way to get some good tarpon fishing on the East coast? All I can find is very expensive resorts. I would be interested in staying in a normal hotel and chartering maybe only one day or so of tarpon fishing.

Any advice/experience is much appreciated.

The northern part of the country would be best in May, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Carrillo.
The best choice for a single days tarpon fishing would be with Eddie Brown who works out of Tortuguero. I can set you up with a single day with him. However, you will have to get there, which invoilves either a plane ride, or combination of bus and boat ride. There are no roads in the area.
