My brother and I are taking a 4 day fishing trip, with our own boat, to Mountauk Point in late July. We'll be fishing for strippers, porgy, sea bass, and fluke mostly. I've been there eight times on a charter boat "Windy, with Capt Jack Passie" so I'm confident in our gear and techniques for these species, BUT we want a try at shark fishing there, something I've never done. The boat is 19 footer and with calm seas, I feel confident in fishing over the eastern horizon. We have electronics, radio, and gps gear.
Can anyone suggest tackle, lures, bait, presentation, techniques, the hole 9 yards to help our try at this shark adventure. We'll be launching out of Mountauk Point during the last full week of July. I know that there are blue, mako, and tresher sharks in the Point area that time of year.
