Hello
I will be fishing for swordfish soon. I need advice on how to rig the lead for swordfish. I'll be dropping at 400 to 150 feet drifting @ nigth. Read about a "detaching " lead . Some say a cigar lead on the line. I understand that the ligth goes @20 feet from bait. Need specific advice on how to attach this things. And general advice on driffting for sword fish. Some links with ilustrations will be great.

Thanks for any advice !

Hope this helps you out:
I use 300-400 red leader line apx 10' long tied to either a 9/0 or 10/0 j hook which is connected to a big heavy 700lb swivel which is then connected to my running line.apx 30'up from the hook,i use a longline clip to attach my light and u don't need too much light, attached to my light I use a J shape wire which is attached to the eye of the light( wire is attached to sinker firmly and the J side slides into the eye of the light and put that into the water. You'll have enough pressure on the line to hold the sinker in place and still fish with it...but when you hit the sinker will release from the fight..hope this helps
Keep a tight line and good luck
I like to dye my squid red before use
