For starters, get registered on some forums with more activity than this one:) Try bloodydecks, thehulltruth, sportfishermen, allcoast, to name a few. Re ad read read... Do you want to boat, or do charters? How far are you from the salt? My story is easy...I'm in MN, which is about as far from the salt as you can get. Vacations to Mexico morphed into vacation/ fishing trips, and finally just into fishing trips! Sad to say I'm just a charter renter, and don't see it going beyond that, but it's still a kick. Marlin beat the heck out of anything I can catch in freshwater, thats for sure. Good luck to ya!

Hi there,
forums are great resources....I suggest going into a local tackle shop and asking some questions, usually those guys are more than willing to help. Subscribe to a saltwater magazine or two. Most importantly spend some time on the water putting your new found knowledge to use. Pay attention to what others around you are doing. Dont be afraid to ask questions while on the water. Take whatever info you can use and leave the rest. Buy a paper chart of the area you plan to fish, study it well, look for points, flats, drop offs... Get a tide chart... pick some spots...BE THERE when there is good current flow.
