The permit have arrived on Roatan! Multiple shots at tailing and cruising fish are being had on high tides, especially in the morning. This past week both John Potter and Peter Litwin were able to land fish to 10lbs while walking the flats. They reported having many opportunities to cast at both singles and schools about every 100 feet! Their fish were landed on a #6 olive Merkin and a #6 brown crab fly that John tied himself.

The bonefish on Roatan remain spooky with recent pressure. Best shots were on the edges of the flats and to mudding schools. Remember to bring weighted flies such as Clousers to get down to the mudding fish. Also bring unweighted Horror style flies in #8-10 for the wary ones.

The bonefish on Guanaja are as agressive as ever! These fish see very little pressure and will take a variety of patterns, such as Bonefish Bitters, Agent Oranges, and Snapping Shrimps. The Potter/Litwin duo landed many fish to 4lbs on their day trip to Guanaja.

Snook and baby tarpon fishing is still good in the mangrove lagoons. These fish require an early start for the best fishing but will eat almost any Deceiver style fly. The availability of these fish has increased with the arrival of the lodge's new pedal kayaks.

Maybe the best thing about a trip to Roatan is there is plenty for the non-angling companion to do! Fish the early tides, breakfast and then snorkeling with the wife, and then back to the flats for the evening.

Tight lines!
