What is the typical gallons per minute flow requirements for a single tuna tube?

You would need a pump that flows upwards of 1000 gph and you will a non stop water source. Many systems will not flow when the boat is on a plane. You may want to consider a high speed intake if raw water is not available for flow when running.

didnt you post this in the tropical sportsman section of the florida sportsman forum as well?? i dont have any real useful information in terms of GPH, i just know know that tuna need lots of water flowing constantly to as seth mentioned, the GPH would have to be high enough to constantly keep a stiff supply of fresh water into the tuna's gills

Kodiak marine makes real nice pump systems, if you are interested. You can buy stand alone pumps and aerators from live bait Larry's site http://www.livebaitlarry.com/

Kodiak uses a rule pump I believe it is 1500 gph and West Marine sells it but it mush be installed below the water line as it is not self priming.

If your going to run a tube, you might as well run two. I use a rule washdown pump and a 2 " thru hull fitting. system is mounted outside as it should be gushing plenty of water, bonitos and small tuna will not survive otherwise. strong brackets would be good too as the tube full of water with a 4 lb. thrashing tuna weighs a little bit.
