View Full Version : Moving to Titusville, FL...

and need to know how to set up my 8wt & 10wt, because they are most certainly comming with! will be down there for about 4mths minimum, starting in early October, would like to fish the flats. have an 8wt and a 10wt rod, both with large arbor reels. should I bring both? how should they be rigged for some flats fishing? will be boatless for the most part... any tips greatly appreciated.

Floating lines and tippets set up for fishing wide open flats. The 8 will get most most of the work. The 10 will be worked when the BIG reds show up or you get into some decent tarpon. I'd say 12# tippets and 20# shock for reds.

excellent, thanks for the advice. looks like I might have a chance to try for Bonefish out of namples. similar gear config? any good shops/clubs in the titusville area I should look into when I arive? been kayaking for 12yrs, might think about getting one down there....
looking at some lines.... any local pref. between Buckskin or Grey?

Go see The Fly Fisherman right in downtown Titusville. It is a top notch fly shop and they sell kayaks there too.

You might also want to check out Orlando Outfitters (www.orlandooutfitters.com) Tim, TJ and Chris B. can dial you in big time. I hate to say it, but having grown up over there, I don't get to do too much local fishing anymore – I am always going someplace else for the magazine... :)

The Fly Fisherman, right on the highway, near the water. They're great folks! And..REGARDLESS of what some folks say...there's NOT A REASON ON THE PLANET TO GO TO ORLANDO. (Sorry--didn't mean to yell.)

Well, am now in Sunny Titusville! just back from an hour at "The Fly fisherman" What a GREAT shop!!! very friendly, very helpful. walked in to buy some line for my 8wt came out an hour later with a headful of info and some great tips (and some flyline, half dozen flies ) :D
