Been in the fishing biz close to 45 years. Started out at V&LA in Chicago mid-60's then buried that company; went with Ed Shirley Sports in metro-Chicago for another 8 years. Stayed in the fishing travel biz at same time with Safari Outfitters, Special Tours & PanAngling.

Currently doing my third tour with South Fishing in Miami. Have guided in Northern Ontario, Manitoba for both fish and moose, also wolf when it was legal. Lived in Illinois for 39 years fished the Great Lakes for much of that time; 5 years in Wyoming; 3 in Montana and rest of the time split between Georgia & Florida.

I go by the nickname of "Legend", which was given to me by my mentor Jim Chapralis, a world champ distance and accuracy fly caster. You'd have to ask him why.

Hi Al,
I have been fishing as far back as I can remember. As a youngster, 3 years old, I cut my teeth fishing the Big Piney and Gascanade rivers in south central Missouri. At about 7 years of age I started my saltwater journey in the Mississippi delta and Gulf of Mexico out of Venice and Port Eads, LA.. This is where I became hooked for life. It was a 60 pound amberjack that did it for me. It was onward and upward from this point.

When I was old enough to travel on my own, I journyed to Hawaii and fell in love with the blue water and the magnificent billfish and tuna those waters hold. Hawaii will always hold a special place in my heart.

For the last decade, my time has been mostly spent living in Miami and fishing Costa Rica and the Bahamas. Madeira has been a featured place of mine the last few years. Now this is a wonderful place filled with many of the sports greats.

I am currently producing a big game fishing documentary. Details to be disclosed very soon.
