Hello all you hookers and poachers in disguise. I am two time two timing ex husband living near Petatlan, Mexico. I changed my name the day I crossed the border in 1988 as yet their lawyers have not found me. I love the life here and have several regular dames. I guess that the Mexican fishermen here respect my navel punctuality. For when I set out to sea they stand on the beach and call “Jose, el Dependable much luck.”
I had a difficult time making friends when I first came to Petatlan, but once the locals found out that I was running away from a wealthy French woman who wanted to castrate me I became accepted. And it makes me smile when I head out for the day, to hear the locals yell “Oye pendejo, mala suerte”. Yes sir Mexicans are fine folks. My boat Lillian who is named after a tourist lady who spent a bit of time with me during the rainy season, she had money and I was hoping it would become serious but she could not get along with my Pitbull Boxer mix dog. I don’t understand why women don’t like slobber. I really liked her she thought I had a artistic touch. I am now considering renaming her some thing a bit more professional like Mako 3. My type of boat is referred to as a Super Panga. She is 27ft.long and is pushed by a 1988 75 horse 2 stroke Yamaha Enduro I bought it new while I still had money. They don’t call it Enduro for nothing. When conditions are perfect, her top speed is 26mph. I fish mostly within sight of land, but on occasions, venture 50 or 25miles off shore depending on the trash line. Here at N 101, 33.011-W 101, 26. 360 it’s not weeds but plastic bleach bottles that bob up down where the currents mix. They float down from the river’s villages in the mountains where the women wash their cloths and discard their trash. Lillian is set up with 15ft SOS outriggers and a free flow live bait tank. I pull a standard five rod spread which is trolled at 8 to10 mph. I believe that in covering a few more miles and changing the bait a bit more often slows down the roulette wheel of luck when fishing. Because of speed, the spread usually consists of four rigged dead bait and a big splashing lure down the center behind the prop wash. My equipment is all Diawa Sealine. (Some day, when I win the Nobel award for B.S. I plan to have a set of them their gold lever drag reels.) For now I am lucky to have two 6/0 with 110lb. mono (my live bait rods when slow trolling with live skipjack or mackeralla) The three other rods are 4/0 Diawa with 50 lb mono and my live bait pitching rod is a cut down 9ft Ugly Stick with a Penn 8500ss spooled to the rim with 30lb mono. It is my favorite toy and it has been working well on big Dorado. If I ever hook a Sailfish it will be interesting and I am sure will provide a lot of adrenaline for some of my clients and friends. I always fish expecting to snag a Sailfish and occasionally a couple of Dorado. In the six years I have been fishing here I have had five blue marlins on the line for very brief, thumb burning but exciting seconds. Finally last year I managed to club one to death and put it in the boat. Well that’s me in a bait bucket. I am glad to have joined this forum and finally have found other true and brave men of the sea with whom I relate.
Thank you for your kind attention,
Live bait

“Oye pendejo, mala suerte”
Too funny!
Indeed, what a great introduction. I can feel your love of the water and the region you are in. Petatlan is in one of the very nice areas of Mexico. A 27 super panga, wow, what a perfect boat for the waters there. These boats are very durable and offer great fishability. :thumb: Welcome to the site an good luck with things in MX. Let any of us know if we can assist you with anything on the site.
