I will coming down to my mother in Bunnells Florida for about a month beginning of Feb. and I am thinking of getting a Scott A2 7wt. 9ft. rod for some salt fishing. Are these rod good for casting or does a faster action rod be better?
Thanks for some answers.

I purchased a Scott A2 9wt. 4-piece a few years back... and boy am I glad I did.

I've used this rod mostly for pike and it has been absolutely amazing. Its responsive, strong, easy to cast...I really don't think it gets any better. Especially for the price. Because of the 40"+ monster pike I caught, a ferrule on one section of the rod did show micro-cracks in the ferrule glaze. It did not affect my fishing at all. But when I got I home I sent it right back to Scott (b/c lifetime warranty) and those sections were replaced at no cost and no questions asked.

Would definitely recommend this rod not matter what weight or what fish you may be pursuing.

For a mid-priced rod, they are probably as good as you are going to find. I had an 8wt. as a backup and it fished very well.
