I am going backwater/xountry fishing soon. teh Capt told me i needed to bring my own tackle.
What should I bring as far as rod reel line and lures? He told me we will be mostly be fishing for snook and redfish.

I'm a little surprised to hear a guide tell a client that they needed to bring their own tackle. Usually, its just the opposite. Most guides would prefer that clients, especially those that are not familiar with the area, use their tackle. That's sort of part of what you're paying for. Fishing in the backcountry means a lot of cover and not a lot of casting room. You could probably get by with a spinning rod in 8-17# range and a lower range Shimano reel with braided line. The whole set up should be under $150. That should be decent for snook, redfish, trout, jacks, and baby tarpon. Anything bigger and you'll probably want more rod. FWIW, rather than spend the $150 on the rod, I'd find a guide that has his own equipment.
I too am shocked to hear a guide request than an angler bring their own gear. I fish all over the world and have not met a guide/captain that was not completely set up when I arrived with rods, reels, line, lures, etc, etc. If I was you, I would rethink this trip and plan a day with someone more qualified, if I may be so bold. There are quite a few very good guides for the glades that will more than accommodate you. Where did you find this guide, by the way?
