what are you going after? a pretty safe bet would be something in the 8-10wt range. flies... again what are you after? but gotcha's, crazy charlies, clousers.

I haven't been there, but you can't go too far wrong with 8 wt. for the bonefish and a 10 wt. for jacks, permit, and smaller tarpon. As far as flies go, from what I've heard, you should have a pretty good selection of gummy minnows, as well as the more standard assortment.

For bonefish from the beaches go with gummy in olive, green dorso and pearl and blue as well, tyed in #8,#6 and #4 hook size, another very effective minnow pattern that i used is the sily fly minnow (a variant of the gummy) with pearl and blue dorso in size from #8 to #2.
For pancake fishing worked very well the bonefishbitters(brown and olive) #8,puff and mini puff and shrimp patterns from #8 to #6.
For Jacks, rainbow runner, tunny, yellowtail snapper and needlefish the same bonefish pattern works well, bring also some poppers for barracuda (poppers worked very well in small to medium size casted just near the toothyfish),for tarpon i know it is a good option the gummy minnow in large size and other baitfish pattern like the EP minnow,or other sardine pattern.
I hope this helps! I tell you what i used in 2006 and what was effective in fishing there, bringing also some crazy charlie in pearl and pink is a good idea too.
For the tippet section i suggest to go from 13lbs to 17lbs fluoro or nylon, but unless you are in a pancake it's better to forget fishing 10lbs or less, too much coral, rocks and boats and....as i think you know..there are a very good size of fish there, bones can easy pass the 10lbs so be ready for long runs and a lot of backing out, a #8 or best a #9 rod is the stick you'll use for the 90% of the fishing in L.Roques ,a 10wt or a 11wt if you chasing tarpon.
Good luck!
