Hey guys.

Heading down to Costa Rica in a few weeks....more specifically Samara on the Nicoya Penninsula. I'm considering bringing my sturdy Scott 9 wt. to fish the surf. What do you think?

Will a standard 9 wt. floating fly line with a rocket head be substantial or do I need something a little more specific? Also, what flies would you bring for the roosters and other fish that are accessible from the beach?

Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

Hi,i went to C.Rica many times because my father is living there in the north pacific coast near Nicaragua,i never been to Samara but when i go fishing there from the beaches i usually bring a 9WT for jacks, needlfish and little roosterfish, a 7WT for the always present school of ladyfish and for snapper in the estuaries. As you know in C.Rica there are a very good numbers of big roosters,so if you wish to catch one of these big boy i suggest to you to bring a 10WT and a inermediate line or a sinking tip line.
Poppers in medium to large size,EP minnow, and sardine patterns as well are effective.
