I'm planning a trip to Costa Rica in February. My friends brother whon lives there wants to go fishing on The Fandango because they are cheaper than other charters. We want to fish for marlin and yellowfin. Has anybody fished with them and what are your opinions?
I cannot say I know anything about the Fandango, but there rate is certainly at the lower end for Los Suenos. You do have to take into consideration that Los Suenos is the most expensive place to fish out of in all of Costa Rica. The Fandango is a nice looking boat and should serve you well. The fishing there is good, so you should have no complaints. Let us know how it turns out. You are more likely to encounter sailfish than marlin, but you never know.

At that time of year you are unlikely to do much with the tuna. A marlin is possible, but most likely you will catch sailfish.

yes i have. my parents have fished 3 times with them and i have fished once with them, caught my first sail. great crew, good fishing boat. dont look for comfort, look for fishability. its the dryest boat ive ever been on. i recommend them highly...

Really? You're charging $950 for Fandango? When was the last time you booked the boat? While the rate on Fandango recently went up to $1000 if you book direct with the boat, we offer Fandango for less than $950, so to answer your question...Yes, we charge less than you and "Gene".
And another one of the many benefits that the lucky folks that book through us enjoy, is that we are not out of town booking agents as we live and operate here full time year round.
We meet and greet our guests at the dock, offer them transportation to the Marina, make sure the boats are OK when they arrive, and see them off. We are there when they return at the end of the day to see how they did, and help them with anything and everything they need.
Also, our rates on luxury Condos both Inside and Outside Los Suenos are less than anyone elses.
Again, another advantage to the consumer of booking through us is that we are professional fisherman with over 20 years inthe business We know exactly who fishes hard here and delivers the best expereinces to our valued guests for their hard earned money and vacation time and THOSE are the boats in our fleet.
We also know who is more concerned with how much fuel they burn, what time they get back to the dock, and don't produce good numbers consistently. Those boats never see our clients.
Better prices, the better boats, the best packages and accommodatons, and unmatched personal service is what makes us the wise choice for anyone fishing & traveling to the Fishing Capital of Costa Rica- Los Suenos.
On a parting note, you guys at South seem to have a respectable operation for a booking agency. Why would you affiliate yourself in any manner with Gene or Tropical Fishing? Why would anyone in their right mind book a Costa Rica Fishing vacation from a guy in Long Island with what is by far the tackiest fishing web site on the internet? I would'nt dis-credit yourself by using comments such as " Me and Gene", as that whole operation is an embarrassment to the business.
Best of luck in all you do.
