My father and I have fished for a number of years off the South Texas coast for blue and white marlin and sailfish aboard our 26' inboard Mako; however, the boat was sold this past fall and we are currently in the market for a new boat. We are considering something in the mid-30 foot range, and keep coming back to the question of whether to go for outboards or inboards in the next boat, with the intention of primarily using the boat to fish for billfish. We normally fish the canyons 15-20 days per summer, and our average runs are 50-80 miles. Without debating ride quality, fuel economy, etc., does anyone have any preference or experience in running outboard vs. inboard boats for billfish? Is there any truth to the belief that inboards will raise more billfish than outboards?
Any input would be appreciated.

well, Im'a inboard kind of guy on small boats(under 34'), put em on a brkt for even better stability and fuel mileage.....I dont think one vs the other has a whole lot to-do wth raising fish;) I've fished both types for Bills and both boats did the trick:D
