Awesome, they used those in "Chasing Silver: Location X" correct? I see the title of the thread, just verifying.
Great show, I have it Tivo'd.

yeah their from those shows i actually bought the dvds both of them and i'm trying to locate the other two by jamie howard, i thought chasing silver was pricey for having only 4 shows on it but besides that i loved it i wish there were more out there

Have you actually tried the flies yet? If so, any luck? Seem to be a very specialized fly.

no not yet, location x dvd used mono eyes, of course i thought i bought some but didn't and the gander mountain next to my work didn't have any so i used the lead eyes which weighted it down more than i thought it would but as you strip the line it cause's the fly to shoot back to the surface. If you strip fast it looks like a bait fish swimming fast up and down in the water but if you fish it slow it looks like a bait fish or shrimp bouncing on the bottom, if you would like i can send you a couple and let me know how they work. I actually took up fly tying before learning how to fly fish. Which i probably should have done the other way around but i'm slowly learning.

those flies look way better than I can tie; still ain't learned yet to tie cause i am like 4 thumbs and a finger, but i know a great fly when i see it, those look like they would work great anywhere. keep on tying. what brand and size hook are you practicing with?

Hi,I live and fish in Campeche City,in the Yucatan peninsula and let me tell you that in my experience those flies are lethal for baby tarpon,by the way,the amount of foam will determine the swimming depth of the fly,if you saw the original video you should have noticed that the guide change a fly for another with more foam in order to remain on the surface, less foam will make it subsurface, and I think it`s the best way, tarpon get crazy about the fly,as usual, dark for early morning and overcast and bright(orange is the best) for sunny times.Hope it helps you and remember, there are many ways to tye that flie, simplify it,the method used on the video discourages many tyers, too many steps,I use the size and shape of the foam head with plastic and that makes me cut the perfect shape instead of making a fuss trimming constantly and ruining the fly, another tip,do not use rabbit strips for the neck, use palmered feathers,it will act as antifouling the marabou tail, watch in the last video,Andy`s Return how he ties the fly in that way.
