I'll be at Placencia for a week followed by four days in Ambergris Caye during the latter half of April. While I do plan on having a guide for a couple of days at both places, does anyone have any advise on DIY for bones? I've been to Los Roques several times over the past few years and am looking for a change.

A lot of the fishing in Belize is done from a skiff as the flats are often soft, if i were you i would get yourself a guide its a long way to go to try and get by with DIY fishing and find out that your fishing opportunities are very limited by the lack of wading.

I run hosted trips out there every year and im back at the start of may, i wouldnt go if i didnt have a guide out there to show me around. If you want any info on some guides i know out there then drop me a line.

You will have a great trip regardless. Belize has loads of bones but they arent big probably 2-4lb avaerage with a big bone being 6-8lb there are occasionaly doubles but they are few and far between. Placencia is one of the best places in the world for permit, getting them to eat is another matter! The baby Tarpon can be found there all year round with the big migratory fish coming in from about April onwards, these guys can run upto 200lb+. You then have the usual suspects in Snook, barracuda, jacks, shark, spanish makeral etc.

enjoy your self! I cant wait im counting down the days!!!!:gr_cheers:

Thanks for the advise, I'll drop you a line for the info. I'm going with the family and some none fishing friends to experience the country as a whole, so the less wasted time, the more better!
