I'm tying up a bunch of leaders for bones with flourocarbon and I'm wondering if I should up size the various pieces because its thinner than mono.Example I'd normally use 40lbd mono as the butt section, but will 40lbd flouro be stiff enough to turn over my flies because of its diameter or should I go to 60 or 80lbs flourocarbon for the butt section?I'll be using an 8 weight Rplxi.

FWIW, I prefer to use tapered fluoro leaders. However, there can certainly be advantages to tying your own. I don't see any reason to use 40# or 50# fluoro in the butt section. Why waste what is fairly expensive tippet, in a section of the leader that will barely, if at all, be seen by the fish. On a 10ft leader, I would use a 4 or 5ft butt section of a stiff RIO mono, then attach smaller steps of fluoro from there on. That gives you 5ft of fluoro where it matters the most and you still have a nice stiff butt to help it all turn over.
