View Full Version : What Kind Of Fish Did I Catch?????

ok i wish i could post the picture of this fish i caught the other day but cant send it from my phone but i can describe it , i was fishing on long island ny on robert moses island which is on the south shore the fsh gave me a good fight i thought at first it was a snapper or something but kinda wierd time in the season for them, i pulled it out and was like WHAT THE HECK it has eye on top of its head looks like eye brows on it like evil looking ones it looks like a mean fish with an over bite with sharp lil teeth it was kinda the color of a fluke and it was grunting like a sea robin but had no top fin or side fins if i can get the pic i have of it on here i will maybe someone out there can give me ideas of what it was cuz i so far looked through 400 different fish species and havent found it

no not at all thats a fluke this thing had its eyes even spaced apart with like an evil face and over bit huge gills that where on both side

ok i uploaded the picture i took of it onto the website here it is it was about 15inches long had a big belly and big gills and it was grunting almost liek a sea robin http://forums.sportfishingmag.com/photos/data/538/wierd_fish.jpg

it looks like a catfish to me, but I dont think ud catch those on robert moses island. and the jaw looks very weird...
maybe a catfish and something else decided to get freaky???

It looks very similar to a Stargazer (northern?)
