I read a rumor last night that the Snook populace in Laguna Madre Texas isn't bad at all (and for those Texans that are mad that the cat is out of the bag, it was Saltwater Magazine that told me). I am leaving for Port Aransas, Tx. two weeks from today and will be able to access North Laguna Madre from there. But Before I go, I would like to tie up some flies for Snook. For those of you in the Know, please show off your Snook (Day Time) flies, or post links for some patterns. My other target species will be Reds and Speckled Trout. I have the ten flies (in two sizes) that are outlined in Lefty Kreh's Saltwater fly Tying DVD(White River, Bass Pro)
Thank you all in advance!

There is a post in the nighttime snook thread about daytime flies

Two that work really good for me are the D.T. Special (variation) and the Wild-Eye Snook Fly. Both are great beach snook flies.

Very nice Steve, are these part of your handy work?
Yep, and they're very effective! The original D.T. Special was sent to me years ago by Capt. Matt Hoover of Naples. I've tweaked it a little over the years.
Do you make these flies for your own use exclusively or do you make and sell custom stuff?

I'll sell them if people want them. My minimum order is a dozen.

I like Todd's Wiggle Minnow. This fly has action like you can't believe, it has action like a lipped plug. It can be fished as a topwater with floating line or as a diver with a sinking line. Snook love it here in Flagler Beach. Also like the Rainy Bubblehead, top water. The Mighty Minnow also produces a lot of snook. Both the Wiggle Minnow and the Mighty Minnow can be purchased on line at littleriverflyshop.com. The bubblehead can be purchased at Bass pro shops.
