dont know about fuel burn numbers, but I would rather go with a hatteras. built heavier, and I've never been impressed with the viking ride. it depends on where you are fishing, but down here in florida and the bahamas, vikings tend to be wetter than other boats i've worked on, and vikings have a tendency to lean into a beam sea and stay rather than roll back. imagine 6-8 footers breaking over the gunnel and running from the deckhouse to the transom. at least a hatt or bertam will roll back out of the sea.

what about Ocean SS 48?? id appreciate any coments suggestions youd have about this boat. looking at either 2000 or 2001 models; intersted about the performance must be SOLID and ready for heavy traffic. Also can you sugest why they are much more affordable than other competitors (HAtteras/ Viking??) to me the SS looks like alot of boat for a great price.

Cheers

It looks like your client has a great choice to make and niether will probably be wrong.

The earlier post about the Viking ride is way off base have made many 2 day trips in several different seas on a 07 64 out of Destin. The Viking as a very smooth entry and exit of rough northern gulf seas. I have been on a 06 64 Hatt and was just as impressed with the ride.

Where i found I did not like the Hatt over the Viking is the cockpit. Way smaller and lower (some people will like that though) than the Viking.

Interior is nice on both but I think clearly Viking has much more comfort and usable Salon.

As far as fuel burn LOL. They both burns loads of fuel. The Vikings hold 2100 gallons plus and most of the hatts i think hold 1800 check that out to verify. The biggest factor is going to be the engine package it comes with the Viking with the 1825's is going to burn somewhere around 90-100 per side at cruise 33-35knts its a 40knt boat wide open. Now the Mtu 2000's another story it can burn over 250 total gallons wide open I know of one that will run 54 mph.
The numbers are very similar on the Hatt.

The best boat is always the one YOU like though so put him in both and let him decide. Either way your going to be running a nice boat.
