I may be in need of a mate this summer, all of May and June, tarpon fishing near Boca Grande in SW Fl.
Boat is booked every day, weather permiting there are no days off. We fish out of Englewood and do not fish in Boca Pass. We strictly sight fish and sometimes travel 30 or 40 miles in a day looking for fish the masses have not found. The work is easy and the fishing is incredible but the hours can get long after a week or two or three.
The pay is pretty good, you get a free room at the rental house I share with another guide, fish all day, clean/prep the boat, dinner then up in the AM to fish.
Boat is a 23 foot tower boat. Typically carry 2-3 clients. Since I stay upstairs I like to have a deckhand below to manage the baits/rods.
You need to be good with people, polite, friendly, respectful, and preferably a non-smoker. It might be helpful if you are good at seeing fish and can throw a cast net.
Most important is that you can have an incredible days tarpon fishing on the boat and NOT talk about it to anyone once you hit the dock. That is our rule number one.
We also run some offshore trips on a 31 Yellowfin and often need deckhands for that of and on thru the year.
If you are interested send me an email to info@lighttacklecharters.com with your whole resume or info.
