When the sailfish start arriving in april and may the are usually on the edge of the reef feeding. Find the prominent color change and drift using light tackle - spinning rod with 20-30 pound test baited with live pilchards. Leave the bail on the reel flipped open securing the line with a small piece of copper wire attached to the reel. When the sailfish hits, the line will start peeling off the reel. Give it about 8-10 seconds. Flip the bail shut and start reeling!!! Usually your sailfish will be hooked good at that point, so get ready for the time of your life!

It was alway dilemma for me what is the best set-ups for sail fishing. I was using Shimano TLD 20 with Berkley Trilene Big Game 10 - 30 Pound Line. was not happy at all. Then I switched to Big Game 30-100 pound test. Works much better. However, it take me almost an hour to bring fish to the stern. May be I should change my rod. Which rod should I choose. Any suggestion?
