I had Lowrance LCX37 & 8100 Global Map on the console & 510 on the bow of my last boat ( Skeeter ZX22V Bay ) - Looking at the new HDS8 for console & HDS5 for Bow of new boat.

Any feedback from those who are using them ?

Not many around down here yet ( Australia ) ;)

Thanks Scotto

I would go Humminbird myself get a side scanner atleast for the bow. It will open up a whole new world of fishing for you.

I replace my Garmin 188c for a HDS 5 w/ nautic insight
I haven't put in enough time to really understand it. Switching units is never an easy thing to do for me. I have to sit and figure out all the different stuff as opposed to the Garmin. Because of that, I wish I would have got a Garmin.

It is pretty nice though

I had the LMS337C-DF and liked it. It took a crap on me and had to send it back to Lowrance. After 3 months of waiting and no hope in sight of seeing it repaired/replaced, finally given offer to upgrade (for extra $) to the HDS-5. They sent me the lakes version (even after telling them I live on the coast of Florida!!). Traded it at West Marine for Nautic Insight version.

Different then what I had, but so far, I like it. Definitely a better machine. Lots of good features and fairly easy to move around once you figure it out.

I just hope I (or you) never have to deal with Lowrance customer service again. If this one goes down, it's off to buy a Raymarine.
