I am repowering a 24' Grady White (1992 Year Model) with Grady Drive (gill bracket). I am going to purchase at least a 250hp engine. It now has a 225hp Evinrude 1992 Year Model. It will run about 34 mph tops at say 5k rpm.

Questions:
1. the boat is rated on to 300hp, what are the advantages/disadvantages of going with this larger motor (say 275hp or 300hp)?
2. Will there be a weight issue with the larger 4 strokes on this boat?
3. I currently own a CMC Power Lift that is rated up 300hp. It is elecrically powered. The "actuactor" failed on it so I removed it and replaced it with a hydralic unit. This is on a 21 Parker with a 150hp 4 stoke. I am considering putting it on the Grady Drive when I repower? Are there any issues other than reliability concern as to the "life of the actuator"?
4. What four stroke engine do you reccomend for my (make). Grady White suggested no less than a 250hp engine? I am looking at Suzukis and Yamas.
