I am an old boater wanting to try some new fishing. I've done a lot of freshwater fishing but want to do some inshore and close offshore fishing. Need a change from bass. I have been out several times to fish the gulf stream in large boats but would like to try my hand at it....within a few miles of shore that is. I have a 76 skiff craft 24 foot boat (hand made wooden cuddy) with 188 mercruiser. I have a fifty gallon capacity tank with a 10 gallon reserve. Is this boat suitable for the ocean close to shore. No desire to leave sight of land....not yet anyway. What are some pitfalls of safety? How big can the sea be and still be comfortable in this boat. Thanks for any and all information including stories and issues you have experienced.
