We can't think up enough adjectives to describe just how amazing the fishing has been lately. Catching not fishing is the name of the game. In an attempt to catch a variety of game fish we more and more often actually find ourselves trying to elude the marlin and sailfish.
On the most recent trip to The Mounts we spent more time hooked up to marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi mahi, yellowfin, etc then we spent waiting for strikes. We counted 9 billfish behind the boat on the day!
Even closer to Vila we have been having great luck catching targeted species. Yesterday we went out to catch doggies with the intent to pick up a wahoo or two on the way down and back. We ended up with 3 doggies, a shark and a wahoo. We got sharked on another dogtooth and got smashed off by another really big doggie. It is great when things go according to plan.
On the cards this week... a pee wee division world record attempt at dogtooth tuna and sailfish for 9 yr old Ayla and a trip to The Mounts for some flyfishing.
Vanuatu, WE LOVE IT!!!
