Disheartening is the word that comes to mind. I know it is for me at least but I imagine others as well.

Disappointing is too kind a word. FS developed the notion of on-line virtual community long before the social networks of Twitter, My Space and Face Book were even conceived. That's what put it in the market leadership position it had and why IMHO such an obscure regional brand out-distanced these formidable titles for example.

I don't know if they ever really understood what an integral part of the members lives was invested in it.

As we see in this thread people are looking for something to replace it.

I for one hope that the guys fumbling the ball with the re-development and roll out are not resigned to simply abandoning the core users to other sites and relying on the brand recognition to carry it through this catastrophe.

A couple of the mods might be able to fill you in better if they want to talk about it, but from what I gathered.

1) Couple months ago they put Dave **************************** in charge of the entire Intermedia Outdoors Forum setup.

2) Dave proceeded to do an over haul on the forums, and after 9mnths of "planning" came up with the bug filled, giant POS we called FS.

3) Comments were made, comments were ignored, thousands and thousands of posts containing everything from crappie jigs, to million dollar yachts, to BS about nothing was lost. As it looks now, FOREVER...

4) Mass exodus followed giant cluster, leaving FS at somewhere in the 85% membership range, so everything from reports to sports went from uploading new posts by the hour to maybe every week or so.

5) For unexplained reasons Dave revoked Gary's priveledges to to the forum. No one wants to give an explanation as to why, but of the 85% left alot of those members are like myself who have been on it FOREVER and want to know why a key member has been canned. It was pretty much the nail in the coffin.

6) We came here to find a new change of direction, possibly for the better, but atleast until the affairs at FS get worked out.

What can you do, E-mail those above Dave ****************************. Tell FS you're no longer subscribing to their mag, and tell them that the site has become a travesty. Trust me, their advertisers will notice and it will either get fixed, or well you know the rest....
