Hi
I own a 28 foot Kevlacat with 200 hp Evinrudes....I know this sounds like an IDENTICAL topic as before but I'm NOT the same guy!!!
I have now learned that the Kevlacat has trouble with water intusion in the motors and Evinrudes are MOST suceptable to those water intrusion issues (poor cowlings) Evinrude says it's a Kevlacat problem, Kevlacat says it's a motor problem and the "LAWYERS" say it ain't worth thier precious time!!! CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME LEGAL, MORAL ADVISE?????? HEEEELLLLLLLPPPP!

Sorry. I can't even think about giving out legal advise. In fact, I don't even like lawyers as a general rule. I think they're the cause of a majority of the problems in our country today.

I understand what what you are having to deal with. I had a Suzuki 225 countless rebuilds for the first three years. Lots of time in the shop. When Suzuki coverage stopped the same problems kept happening. After a few more days in the shop. Suzuki blamed the dealer and the dealer blamed Suzuki. To make it short, I just went and replaced the motor. Haven't had a bad day yet.

I am a lawyer, and had a similar problem with a car while in law school. The manufacturer refused to fix the problem and blamed it on someone else. After I filed suit, they rolled over and asked me what it would take to settle. With little expense up front for me, all parties settled.
If either or both the boat and/or motors were under warranty, and should be covered, find a local young lawyer to draft a suit for you against both of them. Let them fight it out. Likely, the they will prove your case for you. Its not a money maker for lawyers, so many don't want to handle that type of case. Find a young ambitious lawyer out on his own. Offer to pay all expenses up front, and he will likely take the case. Or, you could draft a suit on your own with help from a friend or a computer program (software forms are available everywhere). Good luck.
I'm considering a Kevlacat. How do you like it so far?

Hi, I have tried several sources and can't seem to get a fix on my Evinrude issue. I have a 2001 Evinrude 250 ficht RAM with avg hours that I run on a 26. I recently noticed at start and low idle a rough running-skipping sound so I changed the plugs to a standard type, not platinums. The problem corrected itself but apppears to be returning rather quickly. Any thoughts please?
I have a 2003 kevlacat and I have then same problem with water getting into the engine housing. Also, I have had to take kevlacat to court due to the poor quality of the boat. I would not recomend buying a kevlacat at all costs.

Now that I've vented, I suggest that you send a letter to Roch Lambert at Evinrude. He's the top guy. Explain the runaround you've been getting in a nice way. The "NEW" Evinrude/Johnson family is very anxious to regain market share and are very good about standing behind problem products. I have nothing to say about Kevlacat.

Is it worth the money to get a diesel powered kevlacat?

so dave what problems have you had, and any luck with the suit? did you get a boat before the name change? i've had many cracks in the floor and hull, a very poorly made boat. a buddy has problems also with his hondas sitting too low, they are trying to raise them. seems like this company is trying to fail again. the people i bought from are giving me the cold shoulder. stay away i say. seems the new company is trying to make inboards with some amazing(unbelievable) claims to get some unlucky chums to buy into it. they arent that great. heck a 24ft boat is only 20 feet maybe. heck of a job they do to promote the wreck.

The problems started after the plant in Ashburn Ga. was sold to someone that did'nt know a thing about building boats. I was FRP prodution manager for this company when it came from Austrailia. If you bought a boat after it moved from this location (CHECK CAPACITY PLATE) you got junk. But if I can help any one let me know, I am no longer affiliated with Kevlacat and I know the way the Aussies wanted them built because I built them for 6yrs until these new clowns tookover and wanted to change everything.
sory to hear that, i was thinking of getting johnson on a seaswirl since thwt was the only engines my delar can order, but now i know for sure NO Evinrude/Johnson , i will look for yamahas only.

I have a few freinds that are Yam techs and they say the same claims are being made by Yamaha vs just about any boat with a bracket. In the end, the buyer seems to lose out. Cowlings are sucking up salt water mist and destroying the motors from the inside out. The techs tell me "whale tales" added to the motors may help.
Good luck
I bought a kevlacat and would highly recomend that nobody buy one. The quality was pure garbage. The boat seemed as if was going to roll over in a following sea. Water from the tunnel sprayed the outboard motors and caused damage to my port motor. I ended up going to court and that was a complete joke. DON'T BUY A KEVLACAT!!!

Contact and speak directly to"Mr Kevlacat" John Postle in Australia!
The Australian operation make an absolutely top quality product, and they are in huge demand!!!
Such is demand worldwide they are working near capacity at their plant at the Sunshine Coast -Queensland north of Surfers Paradise such is demand.
They produce lots of survey vessels which have very strict building codes for commercial work.
Kevlacats retain tremendous resale on the 2nd had market downunder.
A magazine in Australia with lots of Kevlacat (Australian manufactured) tests are F& B magazine which has opened and online site under Sea Media at Runaway Bay Sufers Paradise.

I have had a wonderful experience with Kevlacats, and I am thinking about purchasing one. Looking for a little guidance and feedback on why not to buy a Kevlacat
Thanks
I had looked at Kevlacat's about 8 years ago and due to a relocation didnt buy one. Was thinking about one again, but now have found this forum.
It seems like Kevlacat in the USA have taken a turn for the wrong direction.. Checking the Australian Kevlacat web site, they dont appear to have a link to the US company at all.
I might consider going through the Aussie company to get one, but would be concerned about buying something if the name in the USA is become tarnished.
