I'm real interested in purchasing a 280 Scout Abaco. Does anyone have any insight, complaints, or opinions on the boat. It's laid out nicely.

Scout makes highy-quality boats and stands behind them. I don't know enough about the company's dealer network to say they're all terrific, but I'd be willing to bet you'll enjoy your purchase.

Thanks for your reply. We simply do not see Scout Boats up here on the Great Lakes..... Is it as strong, reliable, and as nice a ride as a Grady?

I own a Scout 235 and I'm very pleased with it. There are several owners of the 280 Abaco on this forum: www.thehulltruth.com

Scout are made here in Charleston, SC. Probably one of the best hull designs ever. Extremely good ride, will take the waves if you can. We have owned 3 scouts (keep upgrading).

Chad,
I own a 280 Abaco with twin 225 four stroke Yamaha's. You'll have to go a long wa to find a boat that is put together like a Scout. The 280 performs great. the ride is terrific and can handle whatever you throw at it. The fuel economy is great with a good turn of speed. Although the engines redline at 6000 rpm, I rarely run it over 4200. While others slow to a crawl with a good chop, the Abaco can still run at a decent clip. I can tel you from experience that Scout's cutomer service is second to none. If you looking to buy a Scout, I think you should also take a serious look at the dealer you're going to buy from because he'll be the one to carry out the warranty services. The dealer can make your purchase a great one or a bad one. Good luck whatever you decide.

After four years narrowed search to Grady and Scout and finally decided on Scout Abaco 280. Need help meeting criticism from some comparing Grady who say Abaco has problems with helm seperation -- obviously a real purchase concern.
Any owner opinions out there??

I just purchased a 280 Scout Abaco. I talked to twenty people who currently own a scout and they all said they like the boat and have not had any problems.
