38 VS 35 henriques

I am interested in buying a henriques 35 or 38 flybridge. People say not to get a 35 flybridge because they are unstable. Do you think the added weight, the 10 inch wider beam, and the 3 foot longer length will make much of a difference? The 38 is $60,000 more. Do you think it is worth the $60,000 dollars for the 38 or am I fine with the 35? My primary use of the boat is going to be canyon fishing off of NJ, but I may run the boat down to florida for the winter.

Stick with the 38 if you can afford the additional money. You won't be disappointed. Henriques makes a terific boat.

Install floSan and you will find you can pick up speed while saving fuel. Believe me it really works. You trim the tabs to get the best performance by monitoring the FloScan fuel monitor. We are going to put the 9000 on our next boat which we are currently buying.

Construction and detailing are overated. I recently surveyed a 2001 35 express and found many unacceptable assembly pitfalls for such a highly regarded nameplate. 1- Rear engine room bulkhead cut with rip saw leaving huge 4" X 15" gap to allow fuel hoses to travel from tank to engine room. 2-Bottom of stringers in engine room roughly notched with rip saw and not properly sealed to prevent absorption problems as water seeks path down hullside to bilge. 3-Placement of thru hulls not ideally located for quick, unobstructed access. 4-Pipe supports for tower cracked. 5-Paint on aluminum windshield bubbling and peeling. 6-Incomplete application of fiberglass stingers near bulkheads; some small sections merely coated with gelcoat. 7-Excessive gelcoat spider cracks along the cockpit liner and steps.
Dedicate the time to closely inspect these rigs and you will see they are no different from many other express models. Shop around and bargain hard as there is no reason to pay a premium for the Henriques name plate.

Since the Maimi boat show I have been looking at all the sportfisherman between 35-40 feet, looking at best construction/value with 2 bedroom (bunks/bed) + 2 bath, with serious overnight capacity. The 38 has come out on top (Bertram 390, Cabo 35, Riviera 39,etc. if I can negotiate a day head in lieu of the rod/reel compartment. But I guess due to their semi custom construction and long owner retainer thier are not hardly any used available on the southern east coast. Any additional information I should have before this jumping into negotiations with thier only sales rep (another disadvantage) that is in New Jersey, with no dealers in Florida!
