Does anyone have any experience with these boats. I recently went to the Fort Lauderdale boat show and was blown away by their 2300 Walk. A 23 foot boat with a cuddy cabin that has 6' of headroom, vacuflush toilet, refrigerator, galley and microwave. I did could not even find a 25-26 cuddy cabin boat with the space and features of this boat. Any comments as to ride quality and fit and finish of other polar boats??

I believe that you'll find Polar Boats to be of equal quality, fit and finish to Carolina SKiff. But offer good value for the money.

I have been looking for some time now and found that this boat is great. I have not found too many boats that offer so much for the same price. Have you gotten a chance to do a see trial yet? I am looking to purchase with in the next year and was hoping to hear from someone that has been out on one.

I've also been looking for quite a while now. This seems to be the only fishing boat out there that you can also spend a weekend on under 26'. A couple of my friends bought these boats late last season. I haven't gone out with either of them yet. The only complaint one of them had was the stealth charger was wired wrong from the factory. The dealer fixed it over his cell phone. I don't like the exposed courtesy lights. Salt will screw them fast. For the money it is the best deal out there. Bayliner is more--stay away from them, I own one. I will probably buy this boat in the next few weeks.
i found your site while looking for info on this boat. i saw it today at a boat show and loved it,but like you i can't find anyone who has had one. big bang for the buck if the quality is there. nothing listed on boattest.com
I'm also looking at a Polar and I'm curious about the longer-term quality. Does anybody have any experience with these. I like the look and design but curious about the durability of the hull and other parts.
Thanks. Ron

I've been in contact with a guy at BoatUS forum who just bought one. He did a test on one w/ single 225hp and said it was slow out of the gate but once on plane it rode really well. He got it w/ 4S 250HP. Some of the dealers Ive spoken with have said that the twin 115's are great. Im looking to test one this weekend, but depends on the weather. I will keep you posted

Guys, don't be fooled. Look closely at these boats. The fit and finish is horrible. The boat is proced llow because the construction is cheap. I looked at one last week (ver close). The boats are crap. Next time you see one bang your first against the outside of the hull!! You'll see what I mean.

I would have to disagree. I think the boats are made quite well - I visited the factory in Alabama a couple of weeks ago. While there were some parts made with "chopper gun" - the hull is made with hand laid heavy roving. It is the only walkaround with a finished fiberglass interior that I have seen. This is a huge plus. No carpet to get wet and stinky. The latches and thru-hulls are all high quality stainless (or brass). Gemlux, flush mounted stainless hinges (same as on my 15 year old Wellcraft and are still in perfect condition). It actually has fish boxes that can fit a large fish, and are in a location that you can wash out (unlike just about every other walk around that look like they are designed for perch fishing, with under the seat, tiny, fish boxes). The hull seems as sturdy as any other mid tier boat that I have looked at - look at the weight - it is heavier than 23' walks made by Sea Pro, Key West, or Hydra Sports - all considered good mid tier boats. Bilge pumps and livewell pumps all had brass or bronze shut off valves, and two stainless clamps on the hoses (most mid tier boats have one clamp). The wiring seems neater and better labeled than most mid tier boats, and they use waterproof connections. The livewell is bigger than any other 23' walkaround - 48 gallons - and has two pumps feeding it, with bronze pickup.
The only things I did not like - the walkway should be deeper and wider - even at the expense of a smaller cabin. I think the bait station should have been put on the transom - like their 23 cc has - not sure why they put it behind the seat.

i purchased one last august, now have 100 hrs on the twin f115. the boat has a lot stuff i comparing to 26 and 27. i havehad a few imperfections that the dealer is taking care of.the problem of my concern is the fact that the motors have cut off three times, and can't find the problem. my next call is going to the lawyer.
I am about to purchase one in about 3 weeks. Is it what they say they are. I've looked at alot of similar boats, its the best value for the price.

I got my polar 23WA this August and man do I like it. The zero carpet aspect sold me at the show last winter. This is my sixth boat and first time with outboards since I was a kid. I have the twin 115 YAMS and the fuel econ amazes me. Performance is fine. She does 32MPH at 4300 cruise and 41 WOT at 5500. My wife and I did a Chesapeke Bay campout with our 11 yr son. We ran 110 miles on that trip and used under 40 gals gas. Been 25 miles offshore NJ. Ran a breaking inlet at low tide and stuffed the bow right thru a six foot breaker. The boat is solid. Love those four strokes.
I checked one out, the 23, at the Raritan Boat Show in NJ. Maybe I am spoiled I have a 23 Whaler, but I think the Polar is crap. Not a boat I would want to be 30 miles ofshore in. As far as giving a lot for the money so does a Bay Liner, another crap boat.

I recently took the polar 23cc for a test run at the Miami International Boat Show. It was rigged with twin 115 Yamahas' and I thought that the boat performed well overall. I took it offshore and hammered it against 5-6 foot swells, the boat lands solidly with relative ease. I do have to say though that it was a bit wet, but considering how rough the seas were that day I'm not to sure anyone can find a dry 23 foot boat under those conditions. I am somewhat concerned about the overall horsepower on the boat. On the rough seas it seemed to lack a little bit of mid range acceleration. Well any way I am also close to buying one and am wondering if indeed it is to good to be true. Anyone with more info on this boat please respond
I also have been looking at the Polar boats and Whaler boats. I find that a Whaler owner calling a Polar boat crap is somewhat rediculous. I found that all outboard Whalers are still using wood transoms, have no hand laid glass (chopper gun only), and the foam can get waterlogged making a myth of unsinkability. I have given up looking at Whalers.

Went boat shopping today. Was at the Boston Whaler dealership and right next to it was the Polar dealership. Of course, had to go over and check them out. Have owned 3 Boston Whalers in the past. Had no problems. The Polar 2300WA looks very fisher friendly. The Whalers were center consoles. Wanting a cuddy cabin now. Any suggestions or feedbacks would be greatly appreciated.

I PURCHACED MY 23 WA LAST JULY . PURCHACED ONE WITH THE HARDTOP AND HULL COLOR. RIGGED WITH A 250HP SUZUKI. HAS A LOT OF OPTIONS FOR THE PRICE. THE BOAT HANDLES GREAT IN BOTH FLAT WATER AND CHOP. I HAVENT BEEN IN REAL BIG SEAS YET MAYBE 4-6, BUT THE 4STROKE PUSHES IT EXCELLENT. HAVE HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH SOME OF THE COSMETICS WITH THE BOAT AND UNFORTUNATLY THE DEALER I PURCHACED FROM TREATED ME TERRIBLY AND DID A HACKJOB ON MY BOAT. I AM NOW DEALING DIRECTLY WITH POLAR AND THEY ARE TRYING TO STEP UP AND MAKE ME A HAPPY BOAT OWNER. GREAT WEEKENDER TOO. MY WIFE,DOG AND MYSELF SPENT 4 DAYS ON THE BOAT LAST SEPTEMBER AND THERE IS PLENTY OF CABIN SPACE. THE WIFE LOVES IT.
ALL IN ALL I DO LIKE THE OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF THE BOAT. GREAT FISHABILITY AND IT LOOKS GREAT TOO. FOR THOSE OF US WHO CANT AFFORD THE GRADY, ITS THE NEXT BEST THING

I just bought the 2005 19' CC and I'm curious as to how all you Polar owners have you transducers mounted.
Shoot thru hull or transom mounted? Since Polar has the bustled transom, what do you guys suggest?
Anonymous
06-18-2005, 06:00 PM
I ran my wire out the transom above the waterline and then fastened it along the hull down to the bottom along the bustled transom. The dealer had mounted it to the upper portion of the transom, where the engines bolt on. Stupid! It only worked at idle. You need to get it all the way down. Works fine now at any speed. They say you can't shoot thru.

I had a feeling that would be the best location for it. Thanks for the advice.
i have a 23 cc with twin 115 yams.
the best thing about the boat is the fuel economy.
you do get a lot for the money, but you also get what you pay for. i have won tournaments against much bigger more expensive boats, so being able to fish rough seas 30 miles off shore isn't the problem. if you are fine with knowing you own a very cheaply made boat, then polar is the boat for you. the only question you should have is how long will the cheap boat handle the rigors of hardcore offshore fishing. i have wondered long enough and am selling mine which i bought new in feb. 05. 30 miles out is not the time for your hull to come apart. i have read all the feedback and most is right on the money. fit and finish sucks if you look closely, integrity of boat should be questioned(mine has too many stress cracks to mention).

i purchased a 23wa in april 04 had alot of cosmetic cracking in fiberglass polar and dealership took care of thathad a few other problems and have fixed myself other than that it has been 50 miles offshore to the big rock off morehead city in 6 to 8 ft seas and have been out of oregon inlet and it did ok you need curtains because you will get wet in a rough sea.overall it is a nice boat guarentee.
Last year in March '05 I purchased a new Polar 2310 CC Bay Boat with a Honda 225 4-Stroke. Within the first month two air voids developed on the bottom of the hull. The Polar dealer at the time fixed the problem but was very concerned with something like this developing so early. It is now a year later June '06 and my center console is cracking to pieces, one crack is developing in the beam and their are two large spots on the outside of the boat that look like big bubbles. I have addressed this with the new Polar dealer in our area and this guy is just not responding to my concerns. I have tried contacting Polar directly but can not get anyone their to return my telephone calls. Does anyone have a contact at Polar or offer any advice on what I should do next?

I went to a boat show and saw this one, I loved the boat, said it was going to be my next. After reading this I will look for something else. I do have as others posted 'worse' than that..an '02 2052WA Trophy Pro. So far solid as a rock and I do run over 50 miles off shore with it.(Jacksonville, FL. )

I bought the polar 1810bb and I LOVE it….have taking this boat 10 miles out in the gulf of mex. I have seen the 23wa and I’m plan on getting one of these ASAP or the 27WA.
I own a 2003 Polar 21ft. Center Console that after only 300 hours the deck behind the console has a 6 inch crack and other cracks starting to appear in the deck. Contacted Polar and ask would they repair the boat? Answer(NO). I filed a Consumer Safety Defect Report with the Coast Guard. Has any one else had problems with the deck or hull?

I've had a Polar 19 with a 115 fourstroke for almost 3 years now. Had some cosmetic cracks in the gelcoat which was taken care of(warranty) last month. I have it rigged for swordfish which is about a 15 mile run down this way. I would have got the 150 four stroke because it is really slow to plane when under heavy loads. It is very wet but have run it in 4-5's with out any problems.

I have had a 21 WA for the last year with roughly 100 hours and have had absolutely no problems with it. It is a well-built, well-thought out boat with a great engine (150 FS), a large cabin, good storage, a 48 gallon livewell, and other bigger boat features. It is definitely a great value for money, and in my estimation solidly constructed.

I am seriously considering buying a 2004 21' Center Console Polar with a 200 HP 4-Stroke Yamaha. The boat was solid on the water during my test run and I have found none of the cracking that other boat owners have experienced. However, the boat has new bottom paint which would preclude me from seeing any defects in the bottom.
It was a little slow out of the hole, but cruised nicely. Top speed was 37 knots.
I think I will get a surveyor to check out the boat before I finalize the deal because these posts have me a bit worried.
Are there any Polar owners who have not had these problems? Maybe these is just the unfortunate ones who have actual posted their concerns.
Cheers,

Fell in Love with her soon as I saw it! Rides great I have had no problems with her. Been in 3 to 4's in a storm with it and she got me back safely.
I,m glad I found this forum. I have a 2007 Polar 2100 DC. I am experiencing several issues with this boat, but am not giving up yet.
First, I picked up the boat and the trailer has 4 wh disc brakes. The plug for the lites has a 5th terminal to disengage the brakes when backing. The plug on my truck has 4. I couldn,t back the trl into the parking spot. Brakes would lock up. (My stress level starts)
Second, I took the boat back to dealer and he gives me a tool to stick in the trl so the brakes arn,t activated and I return to the parking lot. I notice the bimni top has come un secure from the frame and has whipped itself into a frayed mess. Also part of the bimni frame wasn,t installed correctly.(Stress level going up). Dealer corrected problem.
Third, I finally get the boat in the water and it seems that the boat is all over the place. It was like work to keep the boat on a straight course. I was on the intercoastal waters in west central Fla. I though it was me. I took the boat out the next day and it seemed the same. I took the boat back to the dealer and they told me it was the helm and it needed to be replaced. They did so. (I am not a happy camper)
Fourth, I get the boat back , actually the dealer left the boat in a slip for me to check out and upon boarding her I hear a noise on the boat. It was the bilge pump running and figured out that they, ( the dealer) put the boat in the water but didn,t tighten the plug and it was taking on water causing the pump to run constantly. I also noticed the bilge pump was broken and not fastened to it,s proper mounting accessory. I get the boat out in the water and the steering seems the same as before they replaced the helm.(I am now getting close to nuclear).
Has anyone had a problem with the steering? I have been told that the boat should idle straight with little to no effort, which this certainly doesn,t!!!
I am also starting to think the problem is with the dealer and not the manufacture.

My buddy has a Polaris, I have a Fish Hawk, he LOVES his Polaris and says he will never buy another type of boat...I believe alot has to do with the dealer...let's face it boats are money pits and we will always of some sort of issues(hopefully they are all minor). But boats are just like cars, if the dealership sucks it will affect your opinion of the brand...I drive 30 miles to Sansone Ford (where I bought my car) for any work on my car even though I have a dealership less than 2 miles away from my house...it is how the dealership handles your issues that is of key importance to me...I bought my boat used from NJ Outboards on Rt. 9 in Beachwood who is also a Polaris dealer and my next boat will be a Polaris because I love my buddy's boat and I love the service I get...

256-739-4182 Ask for Ted Moore or Chuck in quality control. I have called so many times since march of 04, they know my voice. I have a 2300 and now an attorney has the reins. Cracks, electrical, leaks and you name it. Very disappointed in a very well layed out boat. You may want to have a certified marine surveyor do an inspection as I have done. Good way to get the attention. Polar has been very easy to work with and has tried to solve the problems by repairs. I don't think our boat is repairable.

I recently purchased a New 2008 Polar 2300WA w/twin 115 yams. I'm in boaters heaven man! Compared to my last boat a late model Trophy it's like Night and day. It was a virtual wrestling contest at the helm every time I had to deal with a cross current or cross wind and this baby is handling like a dream. It planes off quickly, turns and and cuts through the chop like a knive blade. Maybe my past experience has lessened my boating expectations slightly but I am truely enjoying the upscaled differential. I am truely impressed with the detailing, the fit, the quality, and the overall layout of the boat. A few minor cosmetic dealer issues that I am sure will be taken care of at the 20 hour service but overall my experience with NJ Outboards has been a pleasureable. I figure a full season before I can offer a detailed opinion and overview of the boat but past experience has shown me that first impressions are generally what you can expect in the future. I found NJ Outboards to be a well run orginization. Paul and his entire staff are friendly stand up guys that make a customer feel like they connected up with a top shelf dealer and can enjoy the experience of buying a new boat. Believe me, this is my third new boat and I have become rather skeptical over the years. I would happily recommend NJ Outboards to anyone.
On a scale of 1 to 10, right now I am safe at 10.
I will keep you all posted.

Happy Hooker,
I have a "07" 2300 WA w/twin 115's that I am having trouble with ventilation/cavitation even in mild to moderate following seas. So far dealer has not been able to solve. Have you experienced any problems with yours? I would be interested in hearing from you to discuss motor positioning and prop selection.
Other than the noted issue and a few electrical issues, mostly dealer related, the boat has performed well and I'm offshore alot.

This seems to be the only fishing boat out there that you can also spend a weekend. The boat seems to be comfort for the couples for spending weekends. Enjoying the refreshment on this comfort boat.
