Beth Synowiec of Virginia Beach, VA proudly holds her 56lb 8 oz cobia on August 30, 2009. With her first cast while standing on the hardtop of her boat with a rope in the left hand her rod in the right hand and a great sense of balance, she casted a live eel to the cobia that she spotted while at the second island of the CBBT. With the bail open the 57 1/2 inch cobia latched on eight seconds later, she then set the bail and continued to fight this fish after she carefully slid down the hardtop and made her way down to the platform. Thirty five minutes later she boated her first citation cobia. The cobia's weight was 56lbs 8oz.
