Hi, me and the wife is talking about going to Egypt for a vacation, but before deciding I need to know about the fishing there... Could be inshore or offshore, light tackle (I am a flyfisherman) or heavy tackle. Have not found much through google yet.
I just came (march) from Hurghada and did some fishing in the red sea.
I,m not a real fisher but just as a hobby. You have to admire those red sea professional fishermen because they don't have many kinds of lures and materials as we do. They really know the places and i had a great day. It was a simple trip, only 45 Euro, it,s really cheap and we could hire equipment for only 5 Euro. The company called: Xtra Hurghada but I lost their link. They do arrange bigger trips also. I had so much fun on this trip and we actually caught some real fish. Also a big needle fish, some groupers and snappers.
Hello there,
Ive been in Egypt two years ago and I was really amazed. I started there with my saltwater flyfishing, so I didnt know a lot of things around. I caught many fish, two or three spieces of garfish, small travally, ect. I fished just inshore, it was pretty good... Every day I didnt stop about 3 or 4 fish. My 6 wieght was to week..
For offshore fishing Ive heard about captain........ operating in Hurgada, Ive spoke with him and he has no idea about fly fishing, but he told me that they usualely fish for snapers and grupers and sometimes for sail, giant travally and dorado(rarely).....
I gonna go to Egypt again in next two months, but I want to try fish for parrot and trriger fish....
There seems to be some real interest in offshore fishing the waters of Egypt. Someone needs to post an extensive report on the offshore options there. I will be quite interested in reading about the fishery.
