Most of my charters this week have had good success with trout on the flats in 4 feet of water. Live shrimp has been the easiest way to get them. Most of the fish are small, nothing over 22 inches. I took out Bill Sargent from Florida Today Newspaper last night and fished the mangrove shorelines in the backcountry. Earlier in the week it was loaded with tarpon up to 45 lbs. but last night I didn't even see one roll. I think the heavy rains pushed them deeper into the backcountry. We busted out the fly rod anyway and managed to get 5 snook and 1 mangrove snapper during a quick evening session. We probably missed another 3 or 4. All in all a good evening session.
The Glades Minnow was the weapon of choice.
