At last the weather has abated and us OZZIE charter skippers are able to get back to sea and earn a quid.
The wide grounds, 800 to 1000 fathoms are producing some great bluefin to 240lb and yellowfin to 230 lb The majority of bluefin have been trolled in the 16.9 degree water These big boys crash a lure like a front row forward there's no apologies it's just a "wham bam thank you mam on on with the show and now watch me go!"
We do not normally get big bluefin in our latitudes but the cold winter iso -therms have brought them further northward and we are not complaining.
On our boats BROADBILL and BILLFISHER we have mixed up gamefishing with some great sportfishing for snapper( I am not sure wether you get this particular specie in the States ( I am having trouble resizing photos to get them acceped by the comptutor) but will keep trying If my skills do not work these fish can be viewed on www.gamefishingcharters.com .au Go into "Fishing Reports and Fishing Stories and Hints" section of the site for some "How Toos Ozzie style" It is worth a read, hundreds of beaut pictures there.Striped, black and big blues mahis and wahoo there all there....Our snapper are our most sought after table fish and are screamers on light tackle. We have really had some wonderfull winter snapper trips, these last two weeks. The NSW snapper develops a large hump on its head aand can look quite ugly but not so on the dinner table, they are beautiful to eat. Still cannot post the photos sorry
