It’s been a while since my last report, but here’s an update. A couple of weeks back the bass really turned on with a lot of
big fish, but it only lasted a week before the big ones were gone and everything was small to mediums. But it was still
pretty good with a lot of fish, and too many bluefish. Then this past week things changed. Just in time for me to get out
and start using my tags.

Thursday we fished all day for four 8-10 pound fish and a bunch of blues. Down the beach off the village the gillnetters
were loading up, so apparently the fish had just upped and left us. Friday was the same, and the hope was that Saturdays
blow would bring some new fish in, but it didn’t happen. Sunday some boats caught and some didn’t. There are still too
many bluefish around, and probably will remain here for a while, at least as long as the water temps stay in the mid
fifties. Hopefully some new fish will move in shortly, especially since I still have over a hundred and fifty tags left.

Porgy season is closed unless you fish on the Viking. They purchased a “set aside”, which means they will be able to fish
for them for the rest of the month or until they catch the amount that they bought. Since they decide how many pounds
they caught on each trip, it’s unlikely that they will ever reach their limit.
