The Hooters Girls are gone! They were here at the Abaco Beach Resort shooting the next calendar and magazine issue. I made it here just in time to catch the trampoline shoot. Couldn’t get anyone to go fishing. J
Noel, didn’t cause us any damage. The winds here were listed at 71 with wind gusts as high, as someone reported in Hopetown, at 100. The worst part of the storm was to the east as the storm passed a little south of us towards North Bar.
Since the storm the water and fishing changes everyday and we have a smorgasboard to fish for. Friday we started fishing for wahoo, got one, a dolphin and saw a sail. Saturday, we caught 3 doplhin, a wahoo, (dophin do hit lures trolled at 14 knots), and saw two sails.
Sunday we decided to switch things up, and decided to run baits. We had our resort chef, Frank, his wife Susan and Frank Sr from Miami. We jumped off a sail, hooked up 5 dolphin. Susan, caught one about 30 lbs. Her largest ever. The wind started blowing, we only got about 3 hours in, and it has been blowing ever since.
Monday, we had to sit it out, and Tuesday we decided to give it a try in the afternoon. Ric Tomlinson, from Atlanta, and his friends wanted to fish down towards Cherokee. We never made it to Cherokee, the seas were terrible. We did catch a big cuda. WOW…. Wednesday it rained and blew all day. But this morning it was flat enough to water ski. We had a half day with the Overstreets, from Florida. Congratulations on getting married!! We ended up with 4 wahoo. The largest about 50 lbs. We had 2 other wahoo bites, and lost one at the boat about 40 lbs. The big ones should show any day.
Two of the fish were hooked on the “gay bahamian” lure, designed by our Bahamian mate “T”. The others were hooked on a Black Bart “mahi candy”. Jack at Black Bart has this new skirt that works great.
We have been trying to find out when the TV show Little People- Big World will air their Bahamas trip and marlin catch. The first show will air November 26th on the TLC channel. They will not confirm if the fishing part of the show will air on that episode, or the next week show. If we get more information we will pass it on.
If you haven’t heard the Bahamian ministries, has again revisited the rules and regulations for fishing their waters. You can find the new regs on the Marlin Magazine website. Also you might want to check the website for their Australian update. Peter Wright, has been “down under“, for a while, Dave Ferrell and Walker Holcomb left last week to meet Peter for the big Black Marlin. I’m sure the guys fishing with them for Marlin U will have a great time. I know Candy and I did last year.
We have a busy December coming up here at the Abaco Beach Resort in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas. Hopefully we will see some you over here and look forward to fishing with you. If you need assistance with reservations or flights, let Candy or I know, we’ll do our best to help.
