Port Aransas Texas: Horrace Caldwell Pier

Great fishing on Saturday May 31st to Sunday June 1st. I caught my biggest speckled trout (24 inches) and the most red's (6) 28 Inch's the biggest the picture shows 4 because I had 2 coolers full I didn't have any room for them and there were a couple of nice people on the pier that were going to leave with no fish. What a great trip.

Looks like a great day!!! I am going to be there for the weekend of 4th of July and hope to have some of the same luck. What were you using for bait? Have you ever been fly fishing in Port Aransas, and if so, where are some easy access places where I won't need a boat. Thank's in advance!!!

When Im In Port A I usually Try Horrace, then The Surf, The pier by the Ferry Landings, and I use Live shrimp or berkley Gulp New penny 3.5 Inch Shrimp.

Back in August of 07 I was catching spanish mak's off Horrace and the guy next to me was fly fishing off the pier he caught a 27 Inch Mak along with other good sized spanish mak's. The water was ROUGH big waves, and real windy there are so many good spots in Port A other than what I mentioned just ask around you will get some fish
