Los Suenos -Costa Rica- Fishing Report with Pics

While the Offshore Billfish bite in Costa Rica has slowed down a bit, compared to our peak season from late December to Mid-May, we are still raising some nice Sailfish. The Near shore bite heats up this time of year, and offers our guests tremendous opportunities at catching trophy Rooster fish, Snapper, Tuna, Mahi and Jacks.

HookedOnCostaRica.com guests, Erik and friends, recently had the opportunity to fish abaord our top producing Near shore boat, the 29' Carolina Classic, The Fish Whistle, with Capt. Brandon Keene. Capt. Brandon is one of the top producing Near shore guides out of Los Suenos and as usual, he delivered a great day on the water to this lucky group of anglers.

The days catch included several trophy Rooster fish, the biggest going 55lbs, accompanied by several large Mullet Snapper, some nice Mahi-Mahi, a Blue Trevally, two giant Amberjacks, and a couple of chunky Yellowfin Tuna toward the end of the trip to finish off the day!

After feasting on fresh Tuna Sashimi on board, with Wasabi and Soy sauce on hand of course, they walked off the boat with enough fresh Snapper, Tuna, and Mahi fillets to feed a hungry group, and left plenty for the Captain, mates, and the Hooked On Costa Rica staff to enjoy.

The fish was consumed over 2 evenings dinners at our Sponsor Restaurants in Jaco, where the chefs prepared the fresh fish in several different ways, with a variety of sauces and seasonings.
