On Wednesday we went out for a short trolling trip. I had to be home by noon to watch my kids so we made a quick run out to 30 feet. Right as the sun was coming up we landed a nice gag and an undersized cobia. We caught 6 more gags, but they were all short. We also got a few spanish macs, all on stretch 25 mann lures. Not a big day, but we got more than enough fish for lunch
Today we made a long run out to 60+ feet. We had our limit of amber jacks in 10 minutes and the only reason it took 10 minutes is because we had to reel the fish in. We all hooked up as soon as our lines hit the water. We caught a nice variety of fish today. We got a bunch of grouper, but they were all short. I lost 2 big fish today. One was a big king; he came off right by the boat before we could get a gaff in him, and the other fish was the biggest AJ I've ever seen. It jumped about 8 feet in the air and when it landed my 60# line broke (I didn't even know AJs jumped!!) After it happened I told my dad "no one will believe how big that fish was". Oh well maybe I'll get another shot at one that big.
