Capt. Scott gave me a call early in the week and let me know he had a charter planned for 2 days: one day they wanted to catch reds and trout and the next day grouper. Scott asked if I would handle the grouper trip and fish all day for free. I said heck yeah!!
Our 1st stop in 12 feet. We caught a bunch of grouper but they were all short. We didn't troll since no one on the boat wanted to. I think we may have picked up some nice grouper in 12 feet if we would have trolled. Since trolling wasn't an option we moved out to 18-20 feet on hard rocky bottom. 1st drop BAM! Scott's pole bends over then mine. We got a nice double on legal gags. After catching a million short grouper and almost a limit of gags and a few snake kings, we moved to another spot in 20 feet and finished off our limit of gags and caught a lot more kings. A few were smokers and several were small snakes. I also got 2 small jewfish and we played with some sharks for a little bit. The guys from south FL had a great time. I look forward to doing it again.
