The afternoon Calico Bass bite turned on nicely yesterday afternoon in South La Jolla. They were slamming the anchovies and plastics like crazy. You still have to work your way through a bunch of shorts, but quality fish were there and hungry. I was able to get bit on almost every cast and pulled up 6 legals. It almost feels like summer, but the water is only 63 degrees. The morning bite was really slow, but the afternoon more than made up for it. No Yellowtail yet, the small Barracuda are around and some White Seabass if you're lucky to run into one.
